PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating claims that two siblings at a primary school in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, were bullied, after receiving a report from their father yesterday.
Acting Kota Kinabalu police chief Syed Lot Syed Abdul Rahman said the man claimed his two children had been harassed and physically attacked by a 12-year-old boy.
He said a preliminary investigation found that the older child, a 12-year-old girl, was allegedly kicked in the back of the head by her classmate two days ago.
“The next day, the girl’s younger brother was kicked in the stomach by the same boy. The girl suffered pain in her head as a result of the assault, while her brother is now in fear and traumatised,” Berita Harian reported him as saying today.
Syed Lot said the complainant also accused the suspect of frequently making insulting phone calls to his two children and of continuously physically harassing them in class since the beginning of the school session.
He said police were recording statements from the victims, witnesses, teachers and school administrators.
“Both of the victims are also undergoing medical examinations to determine the extent of their injuries.
“The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 507(b) of the same code (for harassment),” he said.
He advised the public against speculating on the matter or spreading information that could jeopardise investigations, including the identities of the children involved.
