The Hong Kong Tech Pavilion at VivaTech 2026 in Paris concluded with several local start-ups establishing cross-border partnerships, underscoring Hong Kong’s growing influence in the global innovation landscape. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in collaboration with the Brussels Economic and Trade Office and supporting organizations, the pavilion featured 24 enterprises and institutions, ranging from sustainable technology to robotics.
Notable achievements included Formwork IO, a developer of carbon-negative construction materials, being named a top 30 finalist for VivaTech’s ‘Tech for Change’ award. Additionally, PointFit Technology and Robocore Technology Limited were selected to present live demonstrations on VivaTech’s Discovery Stage. These recognitions highlight Hong Kong’s competitiveness in health tech and artificial intelligence.
Several partnerships materialized from connections initiated at previous VivaTech events. Robocore Technology is negotiating with French outdoor advertising giant JCDecaux to supply 1,000 robots for marketing campaigns. CEO Lim Long-hei credited the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion for facilitating this opportunity. Meanwhile, LeafIoT Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Politecnico di Milano’s Lecco Campus to collaborate on AI-driven tree monitoring solutions, aiming for five- to ten-fold business growth.
The HKTDC hosted seminars and networking events to foster deeper ties. Shirley Yung, Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic & Trade Affairs to the European Union, emphasized Hong Kong’s advantages: top-tier research, global capital access, the Greater Bay Area innovation cluster, and strong international connectivity. Terry Wong of HKSTC noted that Hong Kong’s regulatory frameworks provide a familiar environment for European companies to explore Asian markets, while Yonghai Du of HKPC highlighted technical support for meeting international standards.
HKTDC’s Regional Director Chris Lo stated the pavilion facilitated multiple cross-border collaborations, building on momentum from previous years. The HKTDC has been actively participating in global tech exhibitions like CES 2026 and MWC to help start-ups gain international exposure. VivaTech 2026 attracted over 15,000 start-ups and 200,000 visitors from 165 countries, making it a pivotal event for global tech ecosystems.
The participating start-ups covered sustainable and climate technology, AI and software solutions, robotics, and health tech. The full list of 24 companies is available at the VivaTech exhibitors page: https://vivatech.com/exhibitors/hktdc-hong-kong-trade-development-council. These outcomes demonstrate Hong Kong’s role as a launchpad for Asian market expansion and a hub for international innovation collaboration.
