PETALING JAYA: A total of 186 undocumented migrants were arrested during a raid on a building near the Pudu market in Kuala Lumpur around midnight last night.
The Kuala Lumpur immigration department said 320 foreign nationals were inspected, and 186 were detained on suspicion of committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/1963, including overstaying and not possessing valid travel documents or passes, Harian Metro reported.
Bangladeshis made up the largest group detained with 118 men, followed by 28 Indonesians (seven men and 21 women).
Those detained also included 26 Myanmar nationals (13 men and 13 women), five Vietnamese (three men and two women), four Nepalese, two Indian nationals, two from China and one Pakistani.
The operation, which began at 12.05am, involved 137 officers and personnel from the immigration department, police, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, and the national registration department.
All detainees were taken to immigration depots for further action.
