Mobix Labs signed a binding letter of intent to acquire Vision Aerial, a Montana-based drone manufacturer. The deal supports its acquisition-led growth strategy and expands its reach beyond advanced electronics. It gives the company exposure to defense, public safety, energy, and infrastructure markets.
Vision Aerial started operations in 2013 and builds rugged drones for demanding field missions. Its aircraft carry swappable sensors, including thermal, mapping, and gas detection tools. As a result, one platform can serve several industrial, security and emergency response uses.
Its customer base includes the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, USDA Forest Service and L3Harris. It also serves energy operators, utilities, and research universities across applied fields. Therefore, Mobix Labs gains access to relationships that take years to build.
The planned acquisition comes as demand rises for secure drone systems in public and industrial operations. Federal limits on some foreign-made drones have increased interest in trusted domestic platforms. Global buyers continue to weigh supply-chain security, reliability, and field performance.
Vision Aerial gives Mobix Labs a direct position in American-built unmanned systems. However, the opportunity extends beyond drone hardware and aircraft sales. The company can combine drones, sensors, communications, and data tools for real-time aerial intelligence.
Mobix Labs already works in connectivity, RF, sensing, aerospace, defense, and high-reliability electronics. Consequently, Vision Aerial may support a broader platform across autonomous systems and critical-infrastructure protection. The fit also aligns with demand for mission data in remote, dangerous, and costly operating areas.
Mobix Labs and Vision Aerial did not disclose financial terms for the proposed transaction. The founders and key leaders will continue with the business under multi-year agreements. The companies expect manufacturing to remain inside the United States.
The transaction still requires a definitive agreement and due diligence before completion. It also needs closing approvals and conditions from both sides. Still, the binding letter of intent gives Mobix Labs a defined path toward the drone market.
MOBX’s pre-market rebound reflected market response after the announcement. The stock’s move followed a weaker regular session and kept the price action sharp. Consequently, the Vision Aerial plan placed Mobix Labs near a high-growth defense technology segment.
