KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday he had discussed the outcome of the just-concluded G7 summit in France with US leader Donald Trump and France’s Emmanuel Macron.
G7 leaders have agreed to intensify pressure on Russia to end more than four years of war against Ukraine, with Trump saying Moscow should “make a deal” and indicating Washington could re-impose waived sanctions.
“I have just spoken with @POTUS and @EmmanuelMacron. It was an important coordination call that can bring about significant change. We reviewed the outcomes of our talks at the G7 Summit,” Zelensky, who joined the summit in the French resort of Evian, said on X without giving details.
“I am grateful to President Trump for his attention to Ukraine and his readiness to help bring peace closer,” he said.
“We are working to strengthen Ukraine, our cooperation, and diplomatic prospects. We need peace. And we are doing everything to bring it closer.”
